playing settlers with people here is a different experience for sure, but fun. so far it's all girls who play, except for one guy. we are all quite competitive though. one of the women who play has a daughter in second grade and so her daughter always joins as well, except with her own dice and cards. she will interject frequently with responses to trade or will ask people to trade with her, even though her cards are different--"do you have any brick?" randomly. she is mostly ignored, but it's pretty funny because she'll just start laughing randomly at serious moments. =) we got great entertainment yesterday when she started singing, "i like to eat eat eat sheeples and beeneenees"! i guess that's the settlers version of that song. =)
also, apparently here the person who is currently winning is referred to as "the devil." it seems a lot more hostile than announcing "john is winnning!!" but the meaning is really the same. however, it makes for some interesting skype conversations when a game night is being planned since there is both a devil and angel emoticon available to use in skype.
the game i played yesterday, i didn't build one city, yet i almost won. so weird. i did have the largest army though. =) i was 2 roads from the longest road and would have one, except someone with a bunch of cities who was getting more cards than me beat me to it. i haven't won yet since i've been in china (except for in online games with john and mike, but those aren't really "china games"....they're international games i guess). someday i will win here too!
