wisconsin river canoe trip

so i'm in wisconsin right now.  near the pink circle on this map.  we went on a canoe trip that was in that pink circle!

 

the other pink circle is duluth.  because now i know where and what duluth is.  and it is in a very important song, "i love my lips," which has a line that says if my lips moved to duluth, left a mess and took my tooth, that'd be too bad.  so now i know.

this is where we went on our canoe trip!  we put the canoes in the river at the top pink dot and paddled or went along with the current down to the bottom pink dot

  

it took about 3 hours in the canoes, since we were taking our time.  we parked a car where we started and put the trailer at the spot we were going to get out of the river before we started.  driving between the two spots took about 10 minutes.

charis and i waited with the canoes while seth and alissa dropped off the trailer.

this is called a party barge, in which the canoes are brought together and held together by hands or feet (or tied together, but we didn't do that), and then we drifted down the river and ate food.

and drifted down the river with feet in the water.

and paddled, sometimes.

the river is so peaceful.  no sounds except birds, and maybe the paddles touching the water.  the clouds reflected on the water.  no bugs.  and we saw a bald eagle flying over the river.  and some herons as well.

  

 if it had been slightly warmer we probably would have gone swimming in the river too, but it wasn't quite hot enough for that.  however, it turned out that i forgot to put sunscreen on my knees, so only my knees were sunburnt!  if it weren't for a fear of getting sunburnt (there should be a word for that), it would be great to just stay out on the river for hours and hours and hours.
