i originally thought booties and a hat. but then i thought, no those are too small. i have more time than that, i could make something bigger. a small blanket would be doable. so i started this blanket. i think i made it too long. then i realized that if i worked at the same rate for the amount of days i have left, it would only be about half finished. then i realized i probably didn't have enough yarn to actually finish it without the proportions looking weird. so i have a failed blanket.
so, i decided it must be time to make booties. they took less than 3 hours to make, after finding an easy pattern online. yay!
i realized through this blanket story that i work better NOT under pressure. i like to know i can finish something and still have extra time. the blanket was stressing me out because it was like a small version of my thesis. it needs to be finished! it wasn't possible to finish it by when it was supposed to be finished!! so do i keep working as quickly as possible and hope that i am wrong? or give myself an extension and stop pressuring myself about it? i forgot if i'm talking about the blanket or the thesis... anyway, i will continue the blanket as i feel like it and still might very well be able to finish it and give it to the person i intended it for. or if it takes much longer than expected, it can be for the next person having a baby. as for the thesis, i have an extension on the original deadline i was given for a first complete draft, but keep wishing it could just be DONE. it's not going badly. i just wish it was going much more quickly...
Ahhhh! Overcome by the cuteness of the booties, and the zig zag of the blanket.
ReplyDeletewow! That zig zag blanket looks like a lot of fun! I love the color combination. :)
