bike ride in yanghsuo

when i was in yangshuo, i also went on a bike ride outside of the town for awhile. on the way out, we rode along the river for awhile.

the mountains were beautiful in the mist, but i must say, the river looked better in other places.

we just started riding in one direction, and after making a wrong turn that didn't take us out of town, we eventually headed in the right direction.
it would be crazy to live out here with those mountains around you all the time. i was thinking about the people who live here and wondering if they get used to it, if the mountains just seem normal to them. maybe the do. i remember the days that i noticed the mountains and the ocean in santa barbara, but there were many more days were i didn't notice them at all.
we also rode through a village for a little bit, right next to a water buffalo. i sang "everybody has a water buffalo" since out there it might even actually be true. the people i was with thought i was a bit crazy, probably.

on the way through the village, we crossed a river.
i do wonder if the people who live here realize that where they live is different than other places.
