piano!!! (part 2)

i have a piano!!

i arranged a time with the shop that helped me get a used piano for them to deliver it to my apartment.  friday afternoon, 4 pm.  they told me 4 guys would be coming to move the piano into my house.  i was picture problems with the moving of the piano, and me cringing as scary things happened to the piano, and elevators breaking, the piano not fitting in the elevator, guys dropping the piano on their feet, dropping the piano and cracking the floor tiles of my house....  yeah, i was imagining a lot of bad things, and preparing myself to cover my eyes and wait for it all to be over.

this is what happened:
i watched out my window, and i almost missed the truck driving up to the front of the building.  the piano was neatly visible in the back of the truck, covered with some blanket-like things, and a man was on either end of the piano, making sure it didn't move.  i saw them smoothly carrying / rolling the piano up to the front of the building.  i had to look away for a moment to talk to "super wang" (my school's super-hero super-amazing maintenance man) who had come to be there and help with the piano if needed.  when i looked out the window, the piano was already in the building!

mr. wang and i waited a few more minutes.  he opened up both parts of the door, including the part to the left of the doorknob in this picture that i wouldn't normally open:
then we went out in the hallway outside my apartment where the elevator is, and we watched the elevator come up.  mr. wang was saying, "it won't be them yet."  but then the elevator stopped!  and mr. wang was like, "hnnnhh?" which made me smile.  and when the elevator doors opened, there were 3 guys in their with the piano, which fit perfectly inside the elevator, sliding directly in, without even needing be diagonal!  (i was so wrong in my mind about how long the piano actually was...)  i was standing there, prepared to take a picture of something crazy-looking as they moved it.  but what actually happened was they rolled it expertly out of the elevator on a dolly, supporting it perfectly on either side.  they rolled it down the hall, they lifted it gently through my doorway, rolled it against the wall.  two guys lifted it on either side while the other one took the dolly out from underneath.  they quickly but gently set it down.  they asked me exactly where i wanted it and moved it there.  and then i told them thank you and they left, and there is now a piano in my house!

after they left, mr. wang asked me again how much it cost (he'd asked previously while we were waiting), and when i told him he said, "not bad!" and he told me he thought it was a good price.  so, i guess everything i wrote in the previous post about the pricing of the piano does make sense!  (if mr. wang says a price is good, then i believe it!)

well, thought this piano-moving story was going to be a much longer and more interesting story than it actually is.

but i have a piano!!
