the kindle device is dumb. because apparently these devices break after 1.5 years. after mine stopped working and i talked to their customer service and there was no way to fix it, i read a bunch of the poor reviews on amazon, and many people said their kindle stopped working after 1-2 years. so i was trying to decide if i should even get a new kindle when i go to the US this summer, maybe the most very basic one that only costs $69. but is it even worth it, if it will break in 1 year?
i liked my kindle because it was small and light and the screen was easy to read, and i only wanted to use it for reading. it was easy to use and easy to organize my books. since my kindle broke, i've been reading all my kindle books on my ipad (which belongs to my work) since i have no other way to read my kindle books at the moment. it's ok to read on the ipad, but i'm not a fan of the screen for reading as compared to the kindle. also the ipad is too heavy to hold while reading.
i've been thinking about getting an ipod touch, because i have nothing to listen to my music with while i'm traveling (and i travel a lot), i want something small, and i own some apps that i want to be able to use whenever i want (such as skritter for studying chinese). i could also use the ipod for reading books, using the kindle app. i'm just not sure if i will find the screen too small for that, or if i will wish i was reading on the type of screen the kindle has that is meant for reading. and i read a lot.
i'm thinking about getting only the ipod though. but, my friend here who reads a lot, maybe even more than i do, says that i would probably use the kindle so much and be glad to have it, so i should just get both. but the efficiency side of my brain says the ipod technically can do everything i want it to do, and it's small, so there's nothing about it being too heavy or cumbersome that would bother me. it's only the screen for the purposes of reading that might bother me.
anyway, if anyone wants to offer any advice or suggestions or opinions, feel free. =)

The most surprising part of this post on your blog is the statement that someone might, in fact, read more than you do!

I have a Kindle Fire. I can't attest to it's lasting power because I've only had it six months, but I like it for now. At the same time Isaac got himself the Ipad mini. It's smaller, pretty much the apple version of the kindle. And probably the quality of an apple product over kindle as well. Look into that maybe?
