there is a certain person i work with who keeps bringing up milk every day and how he misses milk and how he is going to drink so much milk when he goes the US for christmas. until he came, i'd resigned myself to the milk situation. now lately i've found myself trying out different milks to see if there really is one here that is worthy to be drank (drunk?). here are the results so far, on a scale of 1 - 10, with 1 being really gross and nearly undrinkable and 10 being exactly the way milk should be.
2% american milk: 10
whole american milk: 9 - 10 (depending on mood)
1% american milk: 9.5
nonfat american milk: 4 - 7 (i don't know if this really qualifies as milk...)
imported long-lasting german milk in china: 7 (this milk was the first fairly drinkable milk i had)
"fresh" chinese milk (some dark blue label): 3
UBEST brand fresh milk: 5
long-lasting chinese milk in carton (light blue label): 4
long-lasting packaged chinese milk (dark blue label): 1
i bet you never knew there were so many different milks in the world.
weird that i couldn't decide for non-fat milk, because it doesn't really seem like milk to me necessarily. the chinese milks that are bad i don't deny are milk. they are just really bad. interesting that that is the way i perceive it.
i'm probably biased against the last one on the list because i just drank it and it was TERRIBLE. somehow i finished drinking it anyway, and even on cereal it was no good. i think i give up on chinese milk. there is a reason i gave up on it a year ago. i will try the german milk again though, maybe. and the UBEST milk, if i really want to eat some of the cereal that i bought recently. but drinking milk from a glass by itself is basically out of the question. maaaybe the german milk. but i'm skeptical.
